About

Kerry Kablack, DVM

Being a veterinarian is the best vocation and has been my calling since the age of three! From a young age I always tried to help and save all animals. I grew up outside of New York City and dreamed of the day that I could move to the country and have a farm with lots of animals. After high school I pursued this dream by studying for a career as a veterinarian. After I became board certified, I moved to beautiful Montpelier, Virginia. Initially working as a large animal vet at an equine clinic in Ashland, I also volunteered with the Hanover Humane Society, serving as both a board member as well as their veterinarian for several years.

Along with my time volunteering with the HHS I have also volunteered with Operation Catnip and four animal rescue 501c groups in the greater Richmond area. Volunteering has always been an important part of my life as a veterinarian.

In 2005 I started my own dog and cat concierge practice. I am the sole veterinarian of my practice, travelling to client’s homes to care for their beloved pets. I absolutely love what I do! Dogs and cats much prefer a home vet visit, especially those who are older, don't travel well or get stressed at the vet clinic. House call visits are also very convenient when you have multiple pets.

My vet services include routine wellness and annual check-ups, puppy and kitten examinations, hospice/palliative geriatric care, sick visits, vaccinations, rabies, orthopedic exams, microchipping, bloodwork, parasitic exams and treatment, allergy and dermatology diagnostics and treatment, ear and eye conditions, as well as alternative/holistic therapy. I believe balanced medicine is very important for your pet's wellness, happiness and longevity.

Home euthanasia is also a significant part of my practice. I offer consultation with this extremely difficult decision when that time comes for you and your pet. Although it is a very sad situation, home euthanasia is by far the kindest, most compassionate and pain free option for pets, with no stress to pet or family members, just a peaceful passing in the comfort of a familiar setting and family. I also assist with cremation services if the owner wishes, through agape services.

I work hard to keep prices as reasonable as possible so pet owners can afford proper pet care. I do not practice cookie cutter medicine but rather individualize a patient’s care especially when it pertains to vaccinations, medications etc. Each pet is different and has specific veterinary needs. I always try to make friends with my patients first and gain their trust before performing vet tasks. My absolute favorite patient is the geriatric pup.

I absolutely love what I do and by word of mouth alone my practice continues to grow. The best way to contact me is to text my cell, 804-690-1589, as I am able to respond the quickest. Email or a phone call is also an option.

Education: I graduated from Cornell University Veterinary College in 1996 with my veterinary degree (DVM.) I continued my education with specialty training through an internship and residency at the University of Georgia. I became board certified in veterinary internal medicine in 1999 (DACVIM.) I have also completed my initial training in small animal acupuncture and plan to complete certification in acupuncture as well as train in chiropractic medicine in the near future.
